Shopping for Anniversary Bands for That Wonderful Day
The fifth and tenth wedding anniversaries are some of the most meaningful milestone years, and are definitely ranked high in importance (along with the first year) among early anniversaries. When seeking the right gift to set the tone and express your affection, looking to old traditions that can be honored in new ways sometimes helps.
In the past, the ten-year anniversary has been associated with aluminum, but these days this anniversary is known as the “diamond anniversary.” Celebrating with a piece of diamond jewelry would be particularly significant and romantic for this anniversary.
The 5 year anniversary isn’t quite as clear cut, but there are still plenty of new and old symbols to make it special; for example, giving five-stone diamond rings has become a very popular five year anniversary gift.
Flowers, colors, and other gemstones are also associated with particular wedding anniversaries. The five-year anniversary is linked to the daisy, the color pink, and the sapphire. Not only would adding a particular gemstone to a five-stone ring be meaningful, it would also add elegance. Pink, blue, or yellow sapphires would be a wonderful addition to any five-stone ring. The ten-year anniversary is associated with the daffodil, the color blue, sapphires, and diamonds. Adding a yellow diamond or a blue sapphire to an eternity ring would be very appropriate and symbolic for this event.
Not only is the gift important on such special occasions like these, the presentation of the gift is equally as important. Port wine is associated with both the five-year and the ten-year anniversaries. Planning a rustic picnic, complete with gourmet cheeses, wine, and a beautiful view will add to your important day. If the weather is not permitting, taking your special someone to tour a winery or to a charming Italian restaurant are both great locations for sharing your anniversary gift.
The most important thing, of course, is that your anniversary is a time for happiness and joy at the love you’ve found in each other, and choosing the right gift is just one part of your celebration.

The Ins And Outs Of Anniversary Rings
In modern culture, it is not uncommon to see women who wear not only a wedding ring or engagement ring on their finger, but also an anniversary ring or eternity ring. Anniversary rings are given by husbands to their wives to commemorate a special date, which may vary between couples.
What is an anniversary ring?
Any ring that is given to mark an anniversary of some kind is an anniversary ring. They usually follow a particular style, however. It might come in the form of an eternity ring, which is a band that has gems inset all around it. It may come in the popular three-stone style. The most commonly chosen variety is a band in a simple style that fits in with the wedding ring and the engagement ring, and features a line of stones along the top. The stones may be diamonds or other gems.
Stones are a highly individual choice. Diamonds are often chosen to complement the engagement ring or wedding rings that also sport diamonds, but other gems are also frequently chosen. Many couples choose to use birthstones that correspond to significant months, such as the month of their wedding, the birthdays of the couple, or a child’s birthday.
When they are given:
Anniversary rings can be given at any time, and for a variety of reasons. Because multi-stone rings are quite expensive, it is normal to save these rings for more significant anniversaries, such as tenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth and fiftieth. However, a couple may choose to celebrate any milestone in the marriage. This not just limited to their wedding anniversary: some couples opt to celebrate their engagement date, a significant time in their marriage, or the birth of a child with an anniversary ring.
How are they worn?
There are no rules as to which finger a woman should wear her anniversary ring on. In the end it comes down to personal preference. Some may choose to wear it with their engagement ring and wedding band, on their left hand. Or, if the anniversary ring is a lot more showy than the other rings, they may choose to place it on their right hand to create some balance. The original wedding set may be completely replaced if it is old and worn, or if it is going to be kept as a family heirloom.
What precautions should I take in looking after my anniversary ring?
There are a few things you can do to keep your ring presentable. Make sure you don’t accumulate nicks and scratches on the ring by taking it off to do housework, or when doing any harsh activities. Always put it in a safe place where it won’t get scratched by other pieces of jewelry. Clean it periodically with a non-abrasive cloth and some gentle detergent.

3rd Anniversary Gift – Boy, I’m In Trouble Now
Your third anniversary is coming up and your mind is racing as you browse countless gift ideas, a new pair of shoes, a tie L, flowers, jewelry? Then just like last year and the year before your brain goes into full overload, shuts down and triggers “gift shopping procrastination” till the last minute when in desperation you grab a cheesy scarf or tie depending on the sex of the recipient.

What gift are you going to choose for your loved one? In your mind, you probably think it must be expensive, or it must be unique. Well a gift need not always be expensive to be appreciated. Quick Excerpts Of Wedding And Proposal Stories Part 2
Daniel proposed on the 10th June one week before my birthday. He was extremely nervous during the evening and apparently rang up one of my friends terrified that I would say no. He took me to the Windy Point restaurant for dinner. After dinner we headed back to my mum’s house and received a phone call and Daniel insisted that we need to go out again.
A simple civil ceremony was held amongst the sand dunes at the Main Beach Lakes Entrance in near perfect weather with a backdrop of the front lake and the blue sea. The aisle was lined with eight white bali flags streaming in the light breeze and rose petals scattered on the sand. I was so excited walking down the aisle with my Dad by my side to the song ‘At Last’ by Etta James. As soon as I saw Stephen I couldn’t keep my eyes off him for the entire ceremony, everything else was a blur.
We just had a pretty relaxed ceremony. We had our celebrant (who was fantastic) and we got married at Weir Reserve at Penrith on the lake and it was so picturesque. Our ceremony was about 25 mins long and we had a rose ceremony at the end, mind you I have no idea where the roses went.
Romantically, we met on a cruise to the South Pacific in January 2005. We met right at the start of our trip and were inseparable for the next ten days. When we returned home to NSW, we kept in touch driving over an hour and half to each others house as we couldn’t bear to be apart. Eventually, we moved in together (August 2006) after buying our own home. Scott proposed two months later in front of the lighthouse/blowhole in Kiama at dusk and then took me out to a quaint little Mexican restaurant for dinner – I couldn’t have been happier.
After dinner we drove up to the lighthouse. It was pouring rain so Lee’s original plan wasn’t going to work, so he had to tell me then that he had booked us a room at the lighthouse. I was so excited as I’ve always wanted to stay there. When the rain finally stopped Lee suggested we go and have a look at the lighthouse at night time. It was very scary up there, old and historic and it felt as if there were ghosts lerking around. I was about to tell Lee that I wanted to go back as it was really spooky, but then he said ‘do you want your last birthday present?’. I didn’t know what he was talking about and then to my surprise he pulled out a box. I was so nervous I just started laughing, the poor guy didn’t know what to do. But once I calmed down he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. It was so exciting.
One of the more challenging things to organise was family – because they have a mind and will of their own! Everyone had different expectations and as they all live 80km from where we live, there were initial issues about us not having the wedding where they live, but we overcame this by gentle persuasion (and the fact that the international airport -where our overseas friends were landing- was 10km from where we had the reception!)
