The company quickly become a success thanks to Karan’s innovative designs and marketing initiatives. DKNY became a public traded company in 1996 and the brand’s value quickly grew. In 2001 the French luxury goods company LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey) bought the company for over $600 million.
The brand opened its first flagship store in London in 1997 and then opened a store in New York City in 1999. Currently the company has around seventy stores including twenty stores operating in China alone, most notably the Shanghai and Hong Kong stores. The Turbulent History of Gucci
One of the most well known fashion labels in the world has to be Gucci. The brand is achieved great success and survived a very turbulent past since coming from humble beginnings. The company produces high end luxury goods including clothing and accessories and has done for over a century since it started selling leather goods made solely in Florence.
The company’s founder, Guccio, Gucci, was an Italian immigrant in Paris who worked in high end boutique hotels in the city. He was impressed with the high quality luxury goods that many of the clientele he met carried with them and was inspired to make his own luxury goods company. He quickly returned to Florence shortly after and started Gucci.
Gucci started with one shop in Florence in 1920 and sold only fine leather products that took advantage of innovative manufacturing methods but also incorporated traditional production methods that Florence was famous for. The company grew quickly and hired skilled workers from the area that were well versed in the production methods used in Florence.
The business grew quickly and Guccio involved his three sons, Aldo, Rodolfo and Vasco. The family decided to aggressively expand the business and they set up stores in Milan and Rome while also opening more stores in Florence. During the 1950s the brand had set up an office in New York City before their flagship 5th Avenue store.
Access to America allowed the company to have movie stars pose in the brand’s clothing in lifestyle magazines that were sold worldwide. This exposure helped the brand to establish a loyal base of customers that were wealthy and used the brand’s products as a status symbol. Many of these customers could be seen travelling to Florence to purchase their original Gucci products, adding to the desirability and exclusivity of the brand.
However during the 1980s the company went through a number of significant problems. Internal feuds between family members resulted in one member going to prison for tax evasion and every family member eventually leaving the company. Tom Ford was hired in the 90s to help rebuild the company to its previous highs and was particularly successful before starting his own company.

Introduction To Silver Fashion Jewellery
Silver has been used for thousands of years to make precious jewelleries and decorative items. It is considered a precious metal, although it is much cheaper than gold or platinum. It is very durable, which makes it a good investment. Silver fashion jewellery is always popular, although the style changes according to trends.
This metal is very soft. It is usually mixed with another metal to create a harder alloy so that the jewelers can shape it more easily. Copper is the most common metal that is used in the compound. Recently, germanium has been used to create a more tarnish resistant alloy. Alloy made with germanium is called argentium.
Bali beads and Karen Hill Tribe beads are traditional beads made from this precious metal. You can purchase these beads from your local suppliers or directly from Bali and Thailand. These beads are often combined with natural stone beads to create ethnic style jewelleries.
Some jewelleries are plated with gold to give it golden color. Items that are made with this material and have been plated with gold are called vermeil. Rhodium is also widely use as plating to prevent tarnish. Gold and rhodium plated items usually cost more than non-plated items but they are more tarnish resistant.
You need to know how to keep and care precious metal jewelleries so they will shine for a long time. When you are not wearing them, keep them in airtight containers. Wrap each piece carefully to prevent scratches and abrasions. Jewelleries that are worn everyday are more tarnish resistant to those which are kept for a long time.
You can purchase silver fashion jewellery at your local jewellery stores or at online shops. When you are shopping for jewellerie, make sure to check the item carefully, especially the materials. Jewellers often incorporate gemstones into their designs and you need to make sure you get the authentic gemstones.

Buying A Designer Watch : A Short Guide
Year after year, designer watches remain some of the hottest luxury goods in the world. With names like Gucci, Rolex, and Cartier, designer watches meld form with function in the creation of a truly stylish and useful accessory. Whether you’re looking for a men’s or women’s watch, and are shopping for a gift or for yourself, there are countless styles and options. Here are a few of the options available in luxury designer watches.
Price – ‘Designer’ watches range from $20 to $20,000. Obviously, your price range is going to define the choices available to you. Consider the amount you’re willing to spend on a watch, and look for designers whose timepieces fall into that range to begin your search. There are dozens of name brands out there considered to be ‘designer watches.’
Analog / Digital – Digital or analog? Traditional watches have faces with hands, while modern styles incorporate a digital clock. Designer watches are as much about function as about form, so make sure the basic function of the watch is convenient for you.
Comfort & Style – Style and comfort. Both the band and the face of the watch should be comfortable. Some wearers of designer watches prefer those with a leather watch band, while others prefer metal. Some watch designs are heavier and bulkier, while others have a slim and streamlined appearance. While both can be stylish, consider which you would be more comfortable having on your wrist.
Movement – What type of movement does the watch have? Though you can’t see it, this is one of the most important factors when it comes to the watch quality. An automatic watch will run for many years without maintenance, while a manual wind watch must be would each day. Though this might seem like a hassle, in fact manual watches are among many watch collectors’ most desirable types. There is also the option of quartz movements, which first came onto the market just a few decades ago, and have a replaceable battery.
Metal – The quality of a watch is reflected not only in the interior movement, but also by the outside of the case. The durability of different watches varies greatly depending on the metal used. Some of your options include titanium, platinum, sterling, and nickel plated steel. Some have scratch-resistant coatings. The type of material you choose should depend on your lifestyle; those with a rugged and active lifestyle may want to opt for a more durable watch material.
Extra Features – What kind of extra features do you need? Though most people buying designer watches look only for the brand name and the style, many of these watches have extra features included. Some examples include a waterproof design, alarm, or stopwatch (chronograph). Which of these might be useful with your lifestyle?
