How Do They Work Out The NASCAR Starting Order?

All NASCAR races make use of NASCAR qualifying results to assist determine the starting positions of the vehicles in the race. However, it is not merely as simple as that because the starting positions are not only worked out by qualifying results.

Some starting positions are determined by previous results and a team?s standing, but in general, the qualifying results have the main impact on the starting positions of cars in a NASCAR race.

The starting positions for the qualifying races are determined by the luck of a draw or a sequence of draws. The order of the runs is from the lowest number to the highest with higher numbers having a slight advantage because the condition of the race track changes with usage. The more it is used the faster the track becomes.

The NASCAR teams send out their cars one at a time based on the numbers that they drew in the random lottery. Each car is allowed a prearranged length of track to get up to speed and as it zooms over the starting line it gets the green flag to signal that the stop watch has been started.

Each car is permitted two laps to establish its speed; the faster time will be its entrance into the qualifiers for the actual starting positions. Drivers have different strategies for these two laps, but one common tactic is to make use of the exterior lane of the track for the first lap.

This allows the sports car to travel more distance and therefore warm up more. The second lap can then be raced along the fastest lines giving a better qualifying time.

Another approach, albeit a less common one, is to give up the second lap because it lessens the stress on the vehicle giving it a better chance in the final, actual race. This is a dangerous strategy which not many drivers decide to undertake.

Qualifying results for NASCAR races are based solely on the length of time it takes to finish a lap. This obviously has to do with speed, but the actual top speed over a short distance is not taken into account.

If there is a dead heat for a position, times are compared down to 0.001 (one-thousandth) of a second. If there is still a draw, then the winner is the driver with the highest number of points in the season thus far.

The media has a tendency to report racing results in miles per hour (MPH) which is definitely tracked, but it does not establish the winner. The winner is the one with the fastest lap time, which can also be transformed into an overall speed.

Because the media report the results in this way, the general public has a tendency to believe that the vehicle achieving the fastest MPH will be the winner, but that is false or at least not the whole truth.

Sometimes the qualifying rounds have to be postponed indefinitely, most often due to extreme weather conditions, then the NASCAR qualifying positions are based on the owner?s previous amount of points.

Reasons For Buying An Auto Navigation System

You have surely seen auto navigation systems in your friends’ vehicles and you could be on the point of getting one yourself. It is definitely true that the auto navigation systems are impressive and the price of a set-up has fallen quite radically over the last few years. There are indeed many benefits to be derived from using an auto navigation system, which is also known as sat nav.

In this piece, we will take a look at some of the most important benefits of using a sat nav system.

Safety is paramount in whatever activity you undertake and safety has to be taken into account when driving as well. It is difficult to know whether the world used to be a safer place or not, but it is a fact that these days more people are suspicious of getting involved with strangers than they were previously.

Lone drivers do not want to accost a stranger and admit that they are lost or even stranded. Maybe the stranger will send you into an ambush, set up hurriedly over a mobile phone as you drive off happily suspecting nothing. People have become very suspicious of strangers.

It goes without saying that lone female drivers are the most distrustful of asking strangers for directions, but families with children are often very wary as well.

Using an auto navigation system solves this problem, because you will never get lost again, presuming that the sat nav console is wired to your car battery or you have spare batteries for a hand-held device in the glove compartment.

Confidence in getting to your destination on time, if you have left early enough, is another major benefit. Traffic jams, road works, accidents and natural disasters will no longer be surprises to you and your sat nave system will be able to propose alternative routes in order to avoid the obstacle. This is a very big advantage.

You will no longer have to leave really early to make sure you miss the traffic or to make sure you get somewhere on time. Sat nav will give your ETA. This can save you a whole lot of stress, especially if you have to be in different places for work or the kids all the way through the day.

Not to have to cope with with maps is a boon too. No more folding and refolding maps and trying to remember portions of the route and then stopping to check and remember the next section of the route. Maps are always out of date too. New sections of motorway are always being added and minor roads are sometimes closed for a new housing project. Paper maps just cannot keep up.

The last but not necessarily the least major advantage is the freedom an auto navigation system gives to you in your spare time. It opens up the countryside If you were always a little uneasy about going on a Sunday drive because you did not know the way or did not have a co-pilot to read the map, now you can just go with your auto navigation system.

Popular Auto Navigation Systems

Cream floats to the top, as the axiom goes and that applies to many other things too. The best games have been around for thousands of years: chess, draughts, cards and ludo. The favourite hobbies have been the same for donkey’s ears as well: flirting with the opposite sex, riding horses, breeding dogs, hiking, sailing, travelling and keeping up with the newest technology. However, until recently, keeping up with the latest technology was fairly easy.

New models came out every few years in the past, but nowadays they come out every couple of months and most things you buy have been surpassed by the time they get into the shops. Computers, particularly laptops, and mobile phones are excellent examples.

And so is auto navigation or sat nav as it is often called. Auto navigation systems are based on GPS or GPRS and this technology is at the cutting edge of electronics because the world’s military relies on it and they have a great deal of spending power.

However, cream floats to the top and so it is with auto navigation systems too. The best auto navigation system manufacturers have been constantly good and at the cutting edge of the fairly old idea of GPS. In this article, we will run through a few of the leading makers of auto navigation systems

Tom Tom is world-famous for its excellence. It is also well-known for frequently producing some of the smallest auto navigation systems. Small does not necessarily mean better, but the quality of Tom Tom auto navigation systems is beyond question.

However, if you are not having your auto navigation system installed by your car’s manufacturer, space may be at a premium and so a Tom Tom sat nav system may be perfect for you. If you have a bluetooth-enabled cell phone, you can link them together without wires, wirelessly, and make use of their up-to-the-minute weather and traffic data while you are en route.

Garmin auto navigation systems are time after time one of the most feature-packed and up-to-date auto navigation systems on the market. Despite it being just about the most feature-rich sat nav system on the market, it is not always the most expensive. However, learning to use all of the Garmin’s functions can take a long time, but it is normally the auto navigation system that the tech nerd would like to get his hands on. It is bluetooth enabled as well.

Magellan is well known for its portable auto navigation systems. They make different types of devices, but they are most well known for their portable auto navigation systems. So, you can use your Magellan sat nav system in your car, then take it on your boat or on hiking or bicycle trips.

There are auto navigation systems to suit every pocket and every situation, so if you travel a lot, these manufacturers’ names should be on your short list. Auto navigation systems are ideal for people who travel, but they are also fantastic for locating different routes through town to avoid hot spots. You do not have to make use of them every day, but they are good to have, if you do need them

What Is The Point Of An Auto Navigation System?

Maps are essentially flawed. By the time the surveyors have finished and the data that they have collected has been mapped out and the printers have published the map and sent it to the distributors and they have sold it to the shops and you have decided to buy one, it is out of date. Occasionally years out of date

Another difficulty is that it is impossible to read a map and drive carefully at the same time. You cannot study a map and look out of the windscreen at the same time. So, you either have to have a passenger who can read a map, or you have to stop repeatedly and memorize a small part of the map. That is all right, people did it that way for a hundred years or more, but now there is a better way.

GPS satellite navigation systems have been around for a long time. At first they were only utilized by aircraft and ocean liners. As the price fell, yachting people could afford them; later still long distance lorries had them, then very expensive cars and now practically all cars.

Despite the occasional story of someone driving into a river in the dark, because the driver believed the sat nav and the sat nav did not know that the bridge had been taken down, the auto navigation system has been a resounding success.

I am certain that family Sunday outings are far more pleasurable now that the spouse does not have to do the map-reading; lone travellers do not have to stop to get their bearings and lone female drivers are safer because they do not have to stop to ask directions.

Being lost at night or having broken down in the countryside or even taking a wrong turn into a violent district of town is frightening. Even if you have your cell phone to call the breakdown service, you have to know where you are and if you are in a rough district of town by mistake, you do not want to stop to ask the way and you certainly do not want to go farther off the beaten track.

Then there are the detours that we want or have to make because of natural disasters, break-downs, traffic jams and roadworks teams. Often you will get advanced warning on the local radio of trouble spots up ahead, but if you do not know the neighbourhood, there is not much you can do about it. Unless you have an auto navigation system.

I know many people who do not use their auto navigation system every time they get into their car and that is how it should be for those people, but it is like insurance, it is good to have it when you need it.

No-one needs an auto navigation system to go to the neighbourhood supermarket, but it is really nice to take the scenic route the next time you go out of town to visit a relative. Maybe you always take the same route when you visit your Aunty Lil, but with an auto navigation system you can vary your journey to pass local sights.

The Benefits Of The Razor Scooter

The Razor scooter is a fantastic suggestion for everybody wanting to stay healthy. These days loads of individuals are office-bound and we all seem to have a decreased amount of time for simply going out for a stroll, which is the age-old remedy for gaining a few pounds. The Razor scooter can help you here.

How frequently have you thought, ‘I haven’t got time to walk’ or ‘I can’t be bothered to walk’ and then have jumped in the automobile instead? But what if you had a Razor scooter handy? You could simply scooter down to the store or the park. You could take the dog for more walks and at a quicker speed too, something your dog will surely be thankful for.

The Razor A series or its bigger stablemates, the Razor Pro or Razor Cruiser, are not expensive, costing between $40 and $60, cheaper still at Amazon or eBay, yet they will soon save you hundreds of dollars on gas. After all, starting a car is usually the most expensive part of a short trip.

The Razor scooter is also very versatile. Weighing in at approximately six pounds, anybody could carry it without difficulty up or down a couple of stairs or lift it in or out of the trunk of a car. But not only that, it folds up too, so that the whole scooter is only a couple of feet long by six inches high by six inches wide. It will without difficulty fit in a passage sideboard or the boot of a car.

Your Razor scooter could be used in many ways to save you money and keep you trimmer. For instance, if you want a loaf of bread, you could hop on your scooter. You could take you dog to the park. You could scooter with your kids ‘in a pack’. You could put a Razor scooter in the trunk of your car and scooter the last half a mile into college. And every time you get on that scooter, you are burning not petroleum but flab!

Think of it that way. You are saving energy and money and burning your excess calories at the same time. You are also exercising your legs and increasing your metabolism and heart rate too. That is everything the bank manager and the doctor suggested all rolled into one . And you will be in first-rank company too.

Do you know who else’s kids ride Razor scooters? Well, there’s Al Pacino’s twins for a start. Now, Al Pacino is not short of a few dollars, I’m sure, so you can be assured that he’s going to be looking for the best for his kids, isn’t he? And Lisa Kudrow and her son. And Liv and Cal, offspring of Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich. You would be forgiven for thinking, ‘Aw well, they got theirs for nothing!’ and that may be true, but at approximately $40 who worries?

The benefits in saved motor fuel and increased exercise make the Razor scooter a must-have necessity in my eyes. So, take another look at the Razor scooter and remember that someone’s birthday is coming up in a little while.
